We will continue the tradition of the Friday Hospitality and you will be able to pay your dues, play card and board games, meet and greet family members, and/or swim in the Radisson's hotel pool or relax in the whirlpool.

This showcase is open to the public and will feature our family's artistic and cultural expressions, which will include items such as paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, quilts, cookbooks, computer graphics, music, poetry, and historical documents.

9 AM - 12 PM

This year we, the Lexington Host Committee, have decided to not offer any "planned" activity, however, we will assist family members in choosing from several activities which include:

- touring the Kentucky Horse Park

- walking tour of downtown sites [such as the African Cemetery No. 2, local community gardens and art parks, Cheapside, The Colored Orphan and Industrial Home]

- tour of the Headley-Whitney Museum or historic fire stations

- downtown shopping at Victorian Square Shoppes and/or at the Lexington Center (aka Civic Center)

- visiting the Explorium (aka Children's Museum) and other museums (including the Gallery at the Downtown Library, Lexington History Museum at the old courthouse)

- attend the opening parade at the Roots & Heritage Festival (begins at 10 AM and our family has invited to wear our T-shirts and be apart of the parade)
1 - 5 PM (at the Charles Young Center)

Our Reunion picnic will be held at the Charles Young Center, which is 3 blocks from the Roots & Heritage Festival, which will allow us to enjoy both the picnic and the festival.

Every family is asked to bring a covered vegetable dish or dessert to the picnic, as meat and drinks will be provided by the Lexington Host Committee.  The actitives include paying dues (if not already completed), buying a raffle ticket for our Scholarship Fund, playing at the park, playing volleyball, basketball, and/or horseshoes.

8 PM - 12 AM (at the hotel)

On Saturday evening, we will continue with the honoring of our family's elders (see "Honoring the Elders") and we will have oral reflections, stories, and/or narratives.  Afterwards, we will have our Talent Show (bring your talent and showcase it the family) and Dance.
